tagaytay…part II

Posted on: April 14, 2009

well, the whole point of this trip was to just simply relax and enjoy the cool weather. we just wanted to escape the heatwave that was enveloping the metro (40 degree weather in some areas but it was a nice 28 degrees in tagaytay) and unwind after a very hectic month for us.

but what is the point of relaxing if one does not sample the best that the place has to offer in terms of food??? yep. yep. yep. food!!! 🙂 so when we booked our hotel reservation, little ole me also booked reservations at sonya’s garden and antonio’s farm.

so after a good night’s rest, off we went on the road to nasugbu to grab lunch at sonya’s last thursday. and for just P610 net per head, sonya’s did not disappoint.

oh if only i could finagle the recipe for their salad dressing!!! yum-O talaga!!! sa salad pa lang busog na kami. we kept asking for more bread and salad toppings. ehehehe… 🙂 and the little girl had a blast running around the garden being chased by her Mamu. after two hours (it was a leisurely lunch. lol), we trotted over to the Panaderia and loaded up on spanish bread and hopia (love the cheese and the mongo) before heading back to the hotel.

[look at us. matching tummies pa!!! hehehehe… pero in fairness, lumiliit na yung kay mark because he jogs + hits the gym when he can]

we were supposed to join the Visita Iglesia but we decided to forego it after being stuck in traffic for almost two hours.  cars were barely moving on both sides of  the road and we figured that we could be stuck there until midnight if we pushed  through with our plans. we then took advantage of the pool at the hotel to keep the little girl occupied and happy. it was quite windy as the pool is at the rooftop. but it didn’t look like the little girl minded at all —

woke up bright and early the following day…grabbed our complimentary breakfast buffet at the hotel…and headed on the same road towards nasugbu for antonio’s farm.

we were quite famished when we got there (not so major traffic along the way…but traffic nonetheless). for our starters, we got the seafood platter/sampler. yummy and very fresh oysters + mussels + shrimp. mmmmm-mmmm… hoarded most of the oysters while mark and isa loaded up on the shrimp. we also got the refillable dalandan juice. (we like it better here than the one we had at sonya’s. it’s sweetness was just right and it seemed like it was 100% dalandan…no sugar added.)

mark and my mom loved the house salad with whipped Roquefort cheese and raspberry vinaigrette. but i liked sonya’s better. mas gusto ko yung dressing.  although it was still good. but i looooooved the soup.

for our main course, we got the herb roasted rack of lamb with rock salt garlic potato fries which isa loved + roasted duck breast infused with truffle seared foie gras on braised red cabbage + grilled chillean sea bass. now we know why people troop all the waaaaaaaaaaay here. man. food was that good. 🙂

and as if that wasn’t enough to fill us to the brim, they brought us desserts. [burp!!!] 🙂

we took our sweet time and lingered until almost 3pm then headed off to check out Paradizoo Farm…

…where Isa was able to take a ride on a miniature horse + we also got to see some camels, llamas, pot-bellied pigs, ostriches, sheep and an albino carabao named Tisoy. 🙂

then saturday rolled over and it was time to head back home. good thing we were pretty scared to join the mad rush on sunday and we reached pampanga in just under 4 hours (that includes stopping for lunch and a little window shopping).  it was really a great (albeit short) trip and i wish we could go back again someday (probably with baby miggy in tow). 🙂

so how was your Holy Week? 🙂
