My Scrappylife

and now back to your regular programming

Posted on: February 10, 2009

yep. yep. yep. i’m baaaaaaaaaack!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ arrived from San Francisco just before midnight last Saturday after 17 (loooooooooooong) days without my two “babies” and after travelling for approximately 15,239 miles.

it was the only time we have ever been apart for more than 24 hours. thank God for text messaging and the internet + the geniuses behind instant messaging and the webcam. ๐Ÿ™‚ i silently whispered my thanks to them as i cruised around silicon valley last week with my sister-in-law, anne.

so here it is…the long awaited continuation to my post about the 2009 CHA winter convention {warning: this is going to be a picture-heavy post} —-

ย

My Favorite Booths/Releases — there were a lot of manufacturers at this year’s winter convention (although there were some who did not participate like october afternoon) but American Crafts is – hands down – my most favorite.ย  it was (i think) the largest one i saw as it spanned/spread at least a third of one hall.

amcrafts

the best part of going to the AC booth??? {grin} meeting the wonderful and ultra-delicious-so-yummy-i-wanna-hug-and-squeeze-him-ever-so-tightly Josh Heck (marisa’s sales rep). oh my. marisa and i had to wipe our drool from our chins every time we saw him. i could barely look him straight in his eyes but when i do… oh my. {sorry, honey, pero gwapo talaga siya}. i could tell you a story of what marisa said to him the last time we saw him pero baka magselos naย talaga ang mga asawa namin.

my second most favorite booth would be Making Memories. love the new products and they gave the best freebies – tote bags, aprons, buttons and several MM Slices. yep. several. they held raffles every couple of hours (giving away around 6 slices every time) and they even gave away around 25 more each day to lucky people who were caught on film wearing the Slice apron. i got my picture taken but i wasn’t lucky enough to be chosen as a winner. good thing Marisa won in one ofย  the raffles. ๐Ÿ™‚

mm-booth

mm-slice

can you see my picture on the board? ๐Ÿ™‚

the rest of my favorites are pretty…hmmm… predictable — as relayed by one of my CHA classmates, they almost always come up with the nicest products and booths. check them out…

7-gypsies

love-love the caravan/gypsie theme. and love-love-love their products. got to play with the binderie and a whole lot of 7gypsies’ products in a mini-album class on my 4th day at CHA. got addicted to the whirring (is there such a word?) sound when the binderie punches the holes. teehee. ๐Ÿ™‚ seriously thinking of getting one for myself…

anna-griffin-booth

then there’s the anna griffin booth. made me feel like a girly-girl asย I took a walk around. her patterns are so awesome and pretty. AND i found the puuuurrrrrfect craft trolley for me. can’t wait for it to be shipped to my doorstep. ๐Ÿ™‚

basic-grey_lime-rickey

this one wasn’t a toughie as I have been very much in love with BasicGrey since the day I discovered acid-free scrapbooking. Lime Rickey is my favorite line among the new ones. crazy over the bright colors and gorgeous patterns.

cosmo-cricket

fancy-pants

pink-paislee-booth

the same also goes for Cosmo Cricket + Fancy Pants + Pink Paislee.ย ย had to stop myself fromย drooling all overย the sample layouts. but i couldn’t help myself from running my fingers all over the patterned papers and embellishments. yummy. ๐Ÿ™‚

ย

My Favorite Peeps — well…aside from Marisa (hi, bru!!!)… i was fortunate enough to be with a great group of people who shared the same love for paper and addiction to glue. lol. ๐Ÿ™‚ met a lot of people in the ten classes I took…some of them were gracious enough to share their tools andย  techniques as we got to play with our delicious class kits filled with tons of products and freebies from the manufacturers. and they were thrilled by the fact that I travelled all the way from the Philippines to be at the convention. they kept asking me about scrapbooking over here and I proudly “tooted” about how talented Pinays are…that we even have our first MM Masters…that a lot are DT members of several US manufacturers…and that there are even those that get published in top scrap magazines. syempre Pinay and damn proud of it!!

and then there were the “celebrities”. oh. my. God. still giddy whenever I reminisce about those that I met. you already know about Tim from my previous post. here are the other demi-gods in the scrapbooking world that i crossed paths with…

heidi-swapp

ms. heidi swapp who patiently showed us her new products and techniques…she even gave Marisa a sample to take home. ๐Ÿ™‚

crystal-jeffrey-rieger

crystal jeffrey rieger — one of my “teachers” and the author ofย  Cut Loose. loved her class + she gave us signed copies of her book. ๐Ÿ™‚

jamie-waters

jamie waters — fellow Pinay. loved to touch my belly. teehee. looking forward to the day she brings her kids to the Philippines.

jenni-bowlin1

jenni bowlin…her new products are a must-have. ๐Ÿ™‚

jennifer-mcguire

hero-arts-staff

jennifer mcguire and the wonderful ladies of HeroArts… marisa and i took separate classes and got wonderful projects that we can’t wait to share with you guys. and they were nice enough to sell us their stamps on site during the last day. kanya kanyaย kaming hakot ni marisa kasi super ganda ng mga stamps and they were being sold at a discount or wholesale price. their make-and-takes were also awesome…cards…8×8 layouts… you will definitely scamper all over the place once these stamps are shipped to the Philippines. ๐Ÿ™‚ pramis!!!

mark-montano

then there was also mark montano. you can catch him on the Lifesteyle/Food network (the show is called My Celebrity Home). he was there to sign and give away copies of his book (The Big-Ass Book of Crafts).

also exchanged hellos with Stephanie Howell. saw CD Muckosky but she was busy chatting with someone and we were already on our way out.

paris-hilton

and yep. you heard it right. Paris Hilton was at the CHA. she was there to launch her own scrapbooking line called the (what else) Paris Hilton Creativity Collection. just imagine tons of pink + rhinestones + anything else that she brands as “hot”. hay naku. matagal na nating alam na scrapbooking is hot. hehehe. ๐Ÿ™‚ Paris, huli ka na sa balita, iha.

ย

i can’t think of any other way to describe my first CHA but to say that it was a blast!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ we would go home every night with tons of stories and enough scrap loot to fill the whole trunk of our car rental.

loot-bags

we were two crazy but happy chicks and would love to go to next year’s winter CHA in a heartbeat.ย  given a little luck + a lot of savings + a whole lot of hubby-lovin’ that might not be too far off. ๐Ÿ™‚

grabeeeeeeeee (100x)……………………

just reading your kwento and looking at the pictures you took, solve na ko — NOT! kaiinggit!

haha! glad to know you survived all the palpitations, hyperventilation (upon seeing all the goooood stuff) and the deep urge to splurge ๐Ÿ™‚ welcome back, kapatid!

haller. ๐Ÿ™‚ naku. matindi talagang pagpipigil at pagpupulis sa isa’t isa ang ginawa namin ni marisa. hehehe ๐Ÿ™‚
i’m sooooo glad to be back pero i’m itchin’ to go back din (labo ‘no?). super saya. tataya ako ng lotto at pag nanalo ako, ifa-franchise ko ang target at cheesecake factory para madala ko sila dito. harharhar… ๐Ÿ™‚

sorry at wala kaming nahanap na obama mug. maraming shirts pero ka-pangit naman.

wow yoyin, talagang feel na feel ko ang excitement mo sa post. and wow, meeting all those scrapping celebs, what an experience. mabuti naman at naka-survive ka sa maraming temptasyon at tawag ng mga naggagandahang scrap stuff! lol! glad to see you back! thanks for sharing your experience!

Welcome back Yoyin! Nabanggit ni Mark ko that you arrived na nga. Nagulat daw siya when he saw someone waving at him and he realized it was you pala.Hehe.
Wow any saya naman ng CHA experience mo. I bet you enjoyed it more than going to Disneyland. Hehe. If you’re gonna be selling Hero Arts stamps let me know ha. I would love to buy some. I love their stamps but haven’t gotten the chance to buy any yet. Wow you went to Cheesecake factory too? I love that place. Super yummy food nila don! Last time I ate there I think I gained a few pounds. Hehe. Did you try Inn and Out burgers? They’re the best din! Kakatuwa naman. I’m so happy for you. You’ve got lots of scrapping to do now.

hi, gracie. ๐Ÿ™‚ naku. super laki utang ko sa hubby mo for assisting me not once but twice!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ super deluxe treatment talaga. ๐Ÿ™‚ hehehe… some of the Hero Arts stamps will probably be included in the coming kits from Scrapbooks Hawaii either as part of the main kit or as add-ons. if you order this month’s kit (First Kiss), you will get a FREE mini Hero Arts stamp. in any case, if you want a particular stamp, you can order them thru marisa and she will ship it any way you want (i.e. via USPS or with the bbox).

yep. super sarap sa cheesecake factory. kilo yata dinagdag ko because of the food that i ate over there. went crazy over IHOP pancakes and got addicted to In-n-Out burgers —- waaaaaaaaaay better than Mcdo or Burger King. sarap nung fries nila which they cut on site diba? ๐Ÿ™‚ yum!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Bru! About time you posted stories about our CHA (mis)adventure! hehehe I had a great time with you and I do hope we can do this again next yearssss!

Yep, we did a lot of checking each other because we were both on a tight budget, but if you have anything you want to order thru Hero ARts or any other manufacturers, please email me and I’ll see what I can do.

As for the new products we’re bringing in…watch out for our monthly kits!!! Yoyin helped me tons and heaps to choose only the best products and papers for all of you…basta keep your eyes out for our monthly kits!

Bru, I’m getting a magic jack, too! ๐Ÿ˜€
