My Scrappylife

Archive for February 2009

…of time in my scrap room BUT i can’t “show + share” what i’ve been up to in my happy-corner of the world…just yet…

so what CAN i show you today?

i know! some stuff from my NOT-so-happy-corner of the world…a.k.a. My Office…stuff that make this not-so-happy-corner a little bit happy…

this is what’s in my “in tray”…i guess it’s obvious what my priorities are…teehee… 🙂 oftentimes, i would bring a book or two with me to work so i could jumpstart my creative juices into high gear.

and you can also see why i call this my not-so-happy-corner…tons of paperwork to finish and the pile never seems to go down. sigh… but don’t get me wrong… i love my work. it’s quite challenging and fun (at times) but there are instances when i wish that i could spend more time with my family.

this is my journal + idea notebook… sketches… project ideas. i used to have a small journal but i think i kinda “buried” it under a pile of patterned papers and i still have to “dig” it out… 🙂

now since i became pregnant, i had to have a pillow lodged in the small of my back. the first one i got (can you see the blue one in the lower left corner?) is already slightly squished/flat. good thing i found a new one at BigLots. lugged it with me from LA to SFO to Korea to the Phils and helped me a great deal on the long flight from SFO to Korea.

lastly, i can’t leave the house without these.  i even have to have them in pairs. lol 🙂

the point of my post today? there really isn’t one. ehehehe…

na mahal ko si john lloyd!! toink!!! 🙂 hehehe… I’ve seen his last…uhmmm… three or four movies.  and i really liked “A Very Special Love” which was written by my good friend and former law school blockmate, Raz Sobida dela Torre (hoy, Raz. kumpleto yun ah! hehehe…).

Raz is also the genius behind the Toni-Sam hits You Got Me + You Are The One. i think he also wrote Agent X44 and Supah Papalicious.

unfortunately for ABS-CBN, Raz did not write the sequel (although he was still mentioned in the credits…dapat lang).  he’s busy taking up film school in dreary London at the LFS.

so when hubby asked me if i wanted to watch YCML, e ano pa ba ang isasagot ko kundi “yes, bebe ko!!“.  it was no surprise that the cinema was filled to the brim when we got there.  and people were laughing + sobbing all throughout the movie…even the American dude two rows in front of us!!

it’s a great post-Valentine movie. kikiligin talaga kayo kay Papa Lloydie and may bonus pang kiling from Rowell + Mikee. yep. Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski. 🙂

days since my precious bboxes left LA…24 agonizing days of waiting for the boxes containing my books + materials from my CHA classes including these gorgeous stamps from Tim Holtz —

kaganda lang talaga. been holding back…but i really, REALLY want to get these, too —

every time i hear the gate click or the doorbell ring, my heart skips a beat…are they here? are they here? but no… i still have to wait for at least a week before i could lay my loving arms around my goodies…my Artbin filled to the brim with my lovely papers from {toot} and {toot} (hehehe…secret muna!!!! basta abangan nyo na lang from ScrapbooksHawaii…wink!)

lots of stories + tidbits to share once the boxes arrive.  promise!!! 🙂 i can’t wait to share the little bits and pieces i learned from my CHA classes.  will definitely have to show you some of the projects we did. hopefully, there will be an opportunity for me to actually teach you some of these projects…SOON!!! 🙂

yeah. it has been quite a hectic self-imposed-loooooooooong-weekend for me. had to take a leave of absence from work last friday for the interment of mark’s paternal grandmother who passed away last tuesday.  she was a well-loved lady judging by the number of people who came during the wake and by those that “walked with her” on the way to the cemetery.  we’re kinda fortunate to have had the chance to be with her…especially isa who was born at a time when she had two living great-grandmothers (the one who just passed away + my maternal grandmother).

this is the church where we said our goodbyes to Apung Usta – the same church where Mark was baptized…seriously thinking of having Miggy baptized here as well…

saturday…tagged along with Mark to Manila…he went to meet a client and (with Isa + yaya in tow) I headed to VisualCreations to get some scrap supplies. got some tools and CreativeImaginations goodies including this one:

ci_narratives_easel-frame-album Karen Russell. still staring at the album.not yet ready to play with it.just gonna stare at it some more.hmmm…maybe this weekend… 🙂

and in between my staring sessions, i was able to finish a couple of pages —

using my “old” stash slowly but surely…something from MakingMemories + SassafrasLass + a few embellies from OctoberAfternoon + AC +ScenicRoute + CreativeImaginations and alphas from BG… a very VERY quick page in my book…didn’t have to do much cutting as the Sassafras paper is a left-over from previous layouts.

resurrected my StudioCalico September kit for this one. just added the little embellies (OctoberAfternoon+SassafrasLass+Prima+CreativeImaginations) and AC alphas.

then i stumbled upon my StudioAzul kits and made this…definitely one of my favorite layouts…totally adore this photo taken by hubby (nice one, sweetie!!) last Saturday during a stop-over on our way home from Manila… yeah. yeah. big belly, huh? 🙂 kaya nga I opted to print the photo this size. hehehe…

on top of all these…I had to do some dusting and had to move my computer to my scraproom BECAUSE i had to make room for this baby —

mark couldn’t resist falling in love with the iMac.  started looking for an external hard drive but ended up going into the Mac Center at Trinoma and being drawn to the lovely 24″ screen. and, man, the specs!!! 🙂 320G + 2G RAM + DVD super-drive (can’t wait to burn all the DVDs I want!!! hehehehe…).  no more bulky CPUs!!! 🙂

been telling mark about this baby when I got home from the US — was able to test drive it at Neng’s place in LA. her hubby has one but his keyboard + mouse were wireless.  the bundle we got had wires — will have to buy the wireless separately…sigh

so we have now officially crossed over to the dark…este…Mac side. 🙂 still getting used to the interface but it’s quite user friendly. and the PhotoBooth is a great plus! (teeheehee…fun times ahead)

yeah. i’m a spoiled preggy-lady. 🙂 so sue me.

in other news…the little girl is now officially enrolled in Pre-Junior Casa at Montessori de Xevera which is around 5 minutes away from our house. got her all signed up yesterday. we just have to submit a couple of documents (like her birth cert + a copy of her immunization records + pictures).  been trying hard not to shed a tear or two…it’s pretty hard not to…i remember even shedding a tear when she changed milk formula (from newborn to toddler)…she’s growin’ up so fast and learning so much…

she knows how to hold a crayon or a pen properly + she’s trying her best to stay within the lines…although i’m kinda worried about her color choices… i mean, have you ever seen a purple bear or an orange apple? 🙂

still haven’t potty trained her completely… but she can do no.2 in the toilet sometimes… so she still wears her diapers especially when she’s busy chatting or surfing the net… lol

lastly, i leave you with some of the cards I made using ScrapbooksHawaii’s first kit —

have a great week everyone!!! 🙂

hey. heads up! 🙂

Ms. Marisa of Scrapbooks Hawaii is taking special orders for Hero Arts stamps and other products found in their 2009 catalog. She’ll be taking orders until 12nn (phil.time) of Feb. 23 (monday). orders will be shipped to me via USPS and will arrive mid to late march.

no shipping will be charged from Hawaii to the PI for CLEAR/UNMOUNTED STAMPS. but a 10% shipping fee will be charged from Hawaii to the PI for WOOD MOUNTED STAMPS (bulky and mabigat kasi sila). then i will send them out to you via Fedex/Air21 – shipping cost would only be around P100-120. ain’t that great??? 🙂

if interested, please email your orders to also, please include the price as quoted in in your email. the catalog kasi does not list the price.

i saw most of these stamps during the 2009 winter CHA and they were super duper lovely!!!! pramis!!! i couldn’t help it and i HAD to get some for myself. 🙂 so what are you waitin’ for????? 🙂 hurry and place your orders now.

{note: ms. marisa is still accepting special orders from other manufacturers. just email her and she will get back to you.}

promised to take each day at a leisurely pace… i figured there’s really no point in hurrying through each task (esp. at work) and stressing myself out over trivial things in the office.  i noticed kasi that i was so used to getting things done at once (waaaaaaaaaay before their deadlines) which kinda drained me at the end of each day… barely leaving me with enough energy to spend time with my awesome duo… or even to scrap — i would end some days by going to my scraproom and start to pick up a couple of papers but the by then my eyes would start to droop and the wear + tear of the day would take hold of me…

days and weeks would sometimes pass by and precious moments would even flee unnoticed.

i know. i know. my bad.

so i’ve pledged something to myself — to really spend more time on the MORE important things in life. my little girl is little no more. and soon we’d be welcoming the newest addition to the family.

and she’s pretty hyped up about becoming a big sister —

now that she’s “older”, i could sometimes just give her some crayons + paper or a puzzle or a book and she would just do her thing while i do mine. 🙂 there are even days when i would imagine her all grown up and sharing the same love for arts+crafts with me. lol. 🙂 the fact that she loves browsing through “her” albums is a good sign and i’m going to keep my fingers and toes crossed. 🙂

exactly what i needed last sunday…kept me off my feet (most of the time) and calmed the little peanut growing inside me… these are my layouts featuring ScrapbooksHawaii’s First Kiss kit…

additional materials used: AC thickers, Hero Arts stamp, Zig pen, doodlebug glitter and Martha Stewart glue pad

additional materials used: AC thickers dolce, SR journaling sticker, K&Co. layered flowers

additional materials used: ScrapbooksHawaii add-on Double Dates stamp (Autumn Leaves), AC thickers, SR stickers, AC flair

also made a couple of cards using the left-over scraps…still have to put some finishing touches…will share them with you in the next couple of days… 🙂
