Paper Globes: A Tutorial

Posted on: September 1, 2008

I made these paper globes for my entry to the Scrappin’ Moms Idol Challenge 08 (Week 1) and I’ve gotten several emails + messages + comments asking me for a tutorial…so here it is…

Step 1: Cut 20 circles from different patterned papers/cardstock.  The size of your globe depends on the size of the circles you use.

Step 2: With right side up, fold pattern along the dotted lines to form a triangle.

Step 3: Glue the flaps of 5 of the circles together to form the globe top as shown.  Repeat for globe bottom.

Step 4: Glue the remaining 10 pieces together to form the middle section.  The middle section should resemble a small tube/cylinder.

Step 5: Form the globe by adhering the unglued flaps of the top and bottom sections to those of the middle section.

You can make a paper topiary by inserting a small stick through a hole in the globe and placing it in a small flower pot (supported by foam which could then be covered with moss or wood chips).  You can also make them into hanging balls by attaching a ribbon in one section and adding a couple of embellishments. 🙂
