My Scrappylife

Archive for May 2008

i love wednesdays (although i love fridays more). accomplished more things the past two days (thank God). my work tray is getting lighter. just a couple more documents to review, draft and sign. plus a meeting tomorrow and on friday.

speaking of meetings… had to rush to manila last monday (uuugh! traffic!!!) to get some documents signed for my boss. despite the short notice and the unavoidable traffic, managed to go home smiling because i was able to sweet-talk my driver into bringing me to trinoma where i was able get this —-

macro and telephoto (with IS) na lang…happy duck na ako!!! 🙂

hope you guys have a happy {half of the} week!!!

and i leave you with this picture of my little princess. {see those two lower teeth? they’re now joined by two other upper teeth.}

{this should have been posted more than a week ago.  but certain things at work required my immediate attention.}

05.17.08 —– woke up at 530am. picked up romel at 710am. picked up teena at 730am. and we were off to attend our first {ever} Scrapfest. 🙂

reached max’s a little past 9am but there were more than two dozen people already there. wow. tired from the drive but seeing all the other girls made it all worth it.

now let me show you what it looked like before the “herd” came in…

…and the “after” shot???

first order of the day was SHOPPING. oh, man. ibang level talaga kung mag-shop ang mga scrapper. nothing like the sound of a discount and the smell of yummy papers to make everyone crazy. syempre hindi kami nagpahuli at nagpatalo… hehehehe… immediately went to mitch (visual creations). got crackle paint, diamond glaze and tons of alphas (thickers and heidi swapp cb).  then headed over to MLA/SH to get my orders from Marisa.  next stop was at Jane’s Rekindled Moments where i picked up my pre-orders including my very own crop-a-dile (yahoo). got some thickers (again). then on to bookoto to get the CK book i ordered along with several free magazines (including the MMM with Iris on the cover). also dropped by Vivian’s booth – got more thickers, Prima papers and Maya Road sheers.

while almost everyone was hoarding…este…shopping like crazy, Iris made a demo (was able to capture some pictures but never really got to listen in on her…sorry Iris…binalak ko talaga pero the scrap stuff were calling out to my wallet…este…me)

when Liza got everyone to settle down, we began with the Mini Book Demo/Challenge.  learned wonderful stamp techniques (creating a pattern, masking, spotlighting, kissing) and got to try out Absolument stamps.  here’s my {unfinished} minibook —

we won several raffle prizes throughout the day.  got my wish when i won this from Bookoto:

teena and rome also got raffle prizes —-

the last activity for the day was the on-the-spot LO challenge.  we were divided into two categories- newbies and advanced. and since i won one scrapbytes challenge, i was lumped in the advanced category with veteran scrappers like Mia Cañiza, Issa Lucido (and the rest of the LB Scrapaholics), Bjay, etc. dear Lord!!! ngatog talaga tuhod ko. felt sooooo feverish during the ONE hour we were given to finish our LO

for this challenge, we were required to use at least one photo printed using a Canon Selphy printer.

three of these babies were up for grabs (for the raffle, newbie category and advanced category).

to my utter surprise and delight, my LO bagged third place!!!  won a stamp set from Absolument and a DCWV stack of papers.

we were tired and pooped…

but it was ALL worth it. being with friends. meeting new ones. seeing all the friendly faces. learning new things. but best of all… being with people who share your love for scrapbooking… now that’s priceless.

and now to show you my loot… hihihihihi… {pag di ba naman hoarding ito, ewan ko na lang}

may bonus pa!!!! the Scrappin’Moms also chose the LO i posted at the NING site for the NSD challenge. got these (c/o Mitch of Visual Creations) —

DEFINITELY looking forward to the next Scrapfest.  🙂

…is out!!!! 🙂

was able to see the tip of the tooth coming out while Isa was sleeping (the only time i can easily pry her mouth open without her clamping her lips together).  🙂

decided to do this before going to bed.

inspiration: cloth/textile patterns from fashion magazines

materials: white cardstock, packaging tape, magazine cut-outs, MM glitter die-cuts, AC Thickers (roller rink), Fancy Pants chipboard swirls, acrylic paint, Judikins diamond glaze, AC slick writer, stapes, gel pen, Colorbox, date stamp, foam tape

journaling: “You sure can light up a room with your beautiful smile.”

See those strips? They’re Tape Transfers!!!!!!!

To do a Tape Transfer you need clear packaging tape. Clear packaging tape can be found in NBS and is quite inexpensive.  However, image size is limited because of the width of the tape.   Choose your images from collage sheets, clip art, newspapers or glossy magazine images.

  • Collage sheets, clip art, newspaper or glossy magazine images (alas, inkjet printouts cannot be used)
  • Clear Packaging tape
  • Burnishing Tool such as a bone folder
  • Dish of warm water
  • Paper Towels

  • Cut out image slightly larger than you want the final transfer to be
  • Cut a piece of packaging tape and lay the image face down on the sticky side of the tape
  • Go over the whole image with the bone folder pressing firmly to make sure it is well adhered
  • Then cut the image to the final size you want it to be.

  • Put in a dish of warm water. Soak for 10-15 minutes. The idea is to get the paper backing completely wet.

  • Remove tape image from water and rub the paper off of the back of the tape. The more you rub the clearer the image will be
  • Pat dry with paper towel and there you have it! It looks like a very thin transparency

  • Attach it to your project with gel medium, glue, or use a Xyron.

My Scrap Area

I prefer having everything within easy reach when I’m scrapping — scrapbook magazines, tools, alphas (mostly AC thickers), and embellishments.

this area is in one corner of our bedroom.  love that table which we got for a little over 3K at the mall.  love the fact that it has an extra space where i can place my tools and lamp.  got the paper racks from vivian.

hubby noticed that i need a bigger space.  so he hired some carpenters to build me a scraproom near isa’s room {will post some pictures soon}.  got a cool ceiling lamp from Ikea last Sunday for my new room.

also got a couple of these (planning to use them as storage for ribbons and other embellishments – already used one to store my prima flowers)

thanks, dinah (for the tag)!!! 🙂

in return, i’m tagging teena, bjay and lee.  🙂
